What I Do.
Well, everything.
I'm Lindy Nichols, a young graduate of Holland College.
Of course, I took Photography and Videography.
I take just about any type of photo. Think 'jack of all trades'. I see something or someone I find worthy of a photo, and take it (with permission, of course).
No job is too strange. Need me to follow you around a convention while you're dressed as a video game character? I'm all for it. Just want some fun pictures of your cat? My email is open.
I can guarantee I will bring something special to the shoot.

I've been taking photos since 2016. That Christmas was when I got a proper camera. For a long time, I couldn't remember why my parents got me one, but then I found the old trading cards from my summer camp. My favorite of all is of a man named Simon. I thought he was really cool for some reason. It might have been because he was never a part of anything, only ever watching.
Always hidden behind the camera.
So thank you, Simon. You're the reason I'm where I am today.
To know me more personally, I am also a fiction writer, houseplant parent, cosplayer, bookworm, and twin. My family is from Nova Scotia, but my sister and I are Islanders. Everyone in my house is creative; Zoe is a prolific artist, Mama is a fiction writer like me (with many hobbies), and Papa is a singer and guitarist in the band 'Got Blues' and 'Nathalia Dugauy Band'.

Why Am I Good At What I Do?
My Experience
Where I went to school and where I've worked.
High school was the first place I learned anything technical about photography. Amazingly, the photography teacher had taken photos for National Geographic, so he knew what he was doing. I took his class in grade 12, and went off to Holland College. I've kept in touch with my instructor since graduating, and in May 2023, the program even sponsored a gallery showing at the Cornwall Townhall.
After graduating from Holland College's Photography and Videography course in June 2021, I started working at the Prince Edward Island Museum and Heritage Foundation, at the unofficially named 'Artifactory'. It was my job, for the seven-month contract, to document artifacts and take photos of each for the digitization program.
Then, in March of 2022, the contract ended, and I was out of a job. I puttered around doing nothing for a month or two, until my friend sent me a link to a New Brunswick Community College page. The 'Applied Studies Internship', partnered with the Department of National Defense (specifically the Tactics School in the Combat Training Centre). After a little debate, we decided to apply. We moved into a Fredericton apartment at the end of August.
I worked alongside members of the CAF, taking official portraits, documenting award ceremonies, and even going into the training grounds to photograph live artillery fire. While working with other students in the internship, I took technical photos for the 3D modelers, and helped make and install prints with the graphic design crew.
I moved back home in August 2023, and am now working at a locally owned thrift store while I get my freelance work off the ground.

It was in the summer of 2022 that I got to attend 'Land and See', a photography convention held by renowned photographer Dave Brosha. Dave had reached out to me and explain that someone had purchased a ticket, but unfortunately couldn't make it. Rather than get a refund, they asked him to gift it to a young photographer, which turned out to be me!
I had attended one of Dave's workshops the year before (gift from Mama), so that's how he knew about me. The convention was spectacular, with presentations and demonstrations from several well-known international photographers, as well as shoots with local models. Some of my favorite photos are from that event, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity.
